“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (NKJV)

Life doesn’t always go the way we planned. Sometimes the road takes an unexpected turn, our prayers seem unanswered, and our expectations go unmet. When life doesn’t turn out the way we believed it would, disappointment can quickly give way to discouragement and despair.

But faith doesn’t make us sovereign over life. Faith relies on the One who is!

Much of our frustration comes from trying to control outcomes that were never ours to control. We pray, we believe, and we do our best, but things don’t always turn out the way we hoped. That’s when faith must move beyond believing God will do what we want to trusting Him to do what is right.

Despair is often the product of our failed attempts to control outcomes. Release brings peace.

When life goes off road, that’s not the time to give up. It’s time to give it over to God, trust Him, and turn up the worship!

Worship doesn’t require favorable circumstances. It requires a faithful God. And His faithfulness isn’t measured by how well life is going.

The old hymn says it so well: “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.”

The peace of God doesn’t come from being in control. It comes from trusting the One who is!
