In Exodus 3:14, God revealed Himself to Moses as “I AM WHO I AM.” He is the self-existent, eternal, unchanging God—the One who simply is.

Then Jesus came, and in John’s Gospel He repeatedly took those words upon His own lips. In seven great predicate sayings, Jesus shows us what the I AM means for everyday life.

MONDAY — “I am the Bread of Life.” — John 6:35
When your soul is empty, He satisfies. We spend our lives feeding on things that cannot fill us, but Jesus is nourishment for the deepest hunger of the human heart.

TUESDAY — “I am the Light of the World.” — John 8:12
When you cannot see the way, He illuminates. Jesus does not merely point toward the light; He is the Light that exposes what is false and shows us how to walk.

WEDNESDAY — “I am the Door.” — John 10:9
When you need a way in, He provides access. We do not climb our way to God, earn our way to God, or discover some secret passage to God. Jesus is the Door.

THURSDAY — “I am the Good Shepherd.” — John 10:11
When you do not know where to go, He leads. When you wander, He seeks. When danger comes, He protects. The Shepherd knows His sheep, and His sheep are never merely numbers to Him.

FRIDAY — “I am the Resurrection and the Life.” — John 11:25
When death seems to have the final word, He gives life. Jesus does more than promise resurrection someday. Resurrection and life are found in Him.

SATURDAY — “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” — John 14:6
When you are confused about the way, uncertain about truth, or wondering what real life is, Jesus is the answer. He does not merely teach a way—He is the Way. He does not merely speak truth—He is the Truth. He does not merely give life—He is the Life.

SUNDAY — “I am the True Vine.” — John 15:1
When you are trying to produce a fruitful life, He supplies what you need. A branch does not struggle to manufacture life; it remains connected to the vine. Fruitfulness grows out of abiding in Christ.

The God who said to Moses, “I AM,” has not left us wondering what His presence means for us.

When you are hungry—I AM your Bread.
When you are in darkness—I AM your Light.
When you need access—I AM the Door.
When you need direction—I AM your Shepherd.
When death threatens—I AM the Resurrection and the Life.
When you have lost your way—I AM the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
When you feel empty and unproductive—I AM the Vine.

Whatever this week brings, Jesus will already be there.

Before you arrive at Monday, He is.
Before you face Friday, He is.
Before you know what you will need, He is.

The great promise of the Christian life is not merely that God will give us what we need. It is that in Christ, God has given us Himself.
