While a group of us were visiting over lunch, she put a little light on the path for the rest of us. She is fighting a battle for her eyesight, and she admitted that sometimes it can be a little scary. There are questions she cannot answer. What will happen? What will tomorrow look like? What is waiting around the corner?

She said God reminded her of something He had taught her years ago when her husband died. Back then, she had wondered the same kinds of things. What would she do? What was ahead? How would she make it? In the middle of those questions, God seemed to say to her, “I’ll show you what’s around the corner.” She responded with a big, “YES!” And His answer was simple, but profound: “ME.”

That was what was around the corner. Not necessarily an explanation. Not a detailed map. Not a promise that the road would be easy. Just the assurance that whatever waited for her there, God would already be there.

That is still His word to us: “I am with you always.” He was with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fire. The flames were real, but they were not alone. He was with Daniel in the lions’ den. The danger was real, but he was not alone. He was with Paul and Silas in the jail. The chains were real, but they were not alone. And He is with you.

We spend so much time wondering what is around the corner. We want to know what is coming, how things will work out, and whether we will have the strength to face it. Sometimes God does not show us what is around the corner. He simply reminds us Who is there.

Whatever tomorrow holds, before you ever arrive there, He will already be there.
