“The fear of man works a snare.” — Proverbs 29:25

Not all fear is loud. Sometimes it is an inner voice that whispers. It is not fear that someone will do you bodily harm. It is fear they won’t like you, won’t accept you, won’t approve of you. It is the quiet anxiety of belonging.

That fear is powerful because we were made for relationship. The desire to be known and received is not wrong, but when acceptance becomes ultimate, it becomes a trap. We begin editing ourselves to fit rooms. We soften convictions to keep peace. We measure our worth by reactions. Scripture calls it a snare — a hidden trap that tightens the more you struggle.

But the verse does not end there. “Whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe” (Proverbs 29:25). The cure for the fear of rejection is not thicker skin. It is deeper trust.

When God’s acceptance becomes weightier than human approval, the trap loses its grip. You no longer enter rooms asking, “Do they approve of me?” You enter settled, knowing, “I am already accepted.”

You are chosen. You are known. You are loved and perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18). Live before an Audience of One. The heart that rests in the Father’s acceptance does not tremble at human rejection.

Trust breaks the snare. ©
